About this event

The Safeguarding Leadership training course is designed for those people who play a lead role in shaping the culture of their chaplaincy. It is required for anyone who has safeguarding leadership responsibilities or is responsible for leading activities involving children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.

The training comprises a mixture of reading, reflection and preparation work, two Zoom sessions with experienced safeguarding facilitators, plus review and evaluation work. The Zoom sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes but may last up to 2 hours depending on the quality of the discussion. The course explores leadership behaviour, how safeguarding emerges from a healthy church culture, and how to respond effectively to safeguarding concerns. A course workbook is provided to guide participants through the course work with links for further reading. The two Zoom sessions are scheduled to take place at the same time, two weeks apart.

Course materials are sent a few weeks before the first session. Some responses are required at least 4 days before the first session in order to allow the facilitators time to tailor the teaching.
